I’ve moved quite a few times over the course of my life. I also – unrelatedly, in a way – tend to be kind of brooding and philosophical. Combine circumstance with personality traits, and it’s no surprise that I’m asking myself all kinds of questions as our little family settles into our new home and town: What are we doing here? What is my purpose here in my new community? Who am I?
Ha! Well, I’m great at coming up with the questions, but the answers? Yeah, I don’t know. Relocating inherently comes with uncertainty. I’ve struggled with it every time I’ve moved. I must admit I’m having my tough moments this time as well; however, I am challenging myself to be ok with not knowing the answers to these questions. I aim to give myself the permission to figure it out along the way. We’ll find out what we’re doing here and how we fit into our new community, and I think I’m finally starting to realize that “Who am I?” is an ongoing question with an ongoing answer. Ever-evolving.
